Today was my first day back to work since i got sick and was in the hospital in July. I have been doing housekeeping for 19 years for this same family and watched the kids grow up, go to college, get married etc.
While i was in the hospital my Boss who is a Dr. (and so is her husband) decided that since i had been missing a lot of work (due to my being sick and hospitalized twice in 3 months) she neede to hire someone else.
I was so sad because i thought this is it, i always knew this day would come when i'd lose my job.
Well she told me the other day i am the senior housekeeper and can come when i am well and do whatever it is i can do. The other housekeeper is basically my assistant to do all the big hard jobs that i can no longer do.
I was thrilled to hear that she had no intention to fire me at all. She just needed someone to take over all the big stuff.
was thinking today while back at work that i hate this disease is now taking my ability to complete my work and a thought ran thru my head.... I AM NOT 21 ANYMORE, How can i expect that i, as a 43 year old should be able to keep up the pace i did, when i was 24 (AND with 100% lung function back then) ? What an awesome Boss that she hired someone to make my job easier....
I do have another job but it is at my own pace, my own hours , days etc. which is pulling car parts in the junk yard and selling them. I love that job as well because it is right up my alley. I am a car chick with my own Muscle car
and i love rifling thru the junk yard

Diane,
Congratulations on still having your job! It sounds like your bosses are great!

If it makes you feel any better, I am going to be 40 next month, and no CF, and I still can't do what a 21 year old can This body just ain't what it used to be, lol!
On the serious side, I am just so happy to see that they are helping make your job easier!
