my puppy

Some of you may know that I got a puppy a few weeks ago. He got very sick a couple of days after we got him and he almost died; but, I nursed him and took very good care of him and he made it. Then he got pneumonia from kennel cough and I had to nurse him again and actually give him manual CPT......vets orders. Crazy...I know. BTW....none of this stuff he had was transferable to me. Anyway, he was a very sick little guy; but, we all just fell in love with his bounce and his character so we were pulling for him.

He has pulled through wonderfully and now is a healthy bouncy beautiful little guy with lots of energy. So he motivates me to walk him 3 or 4 times a day. I have no choice. He needs the walking for his little lungs and his puppy energy. So none of my excuses work now<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I can't skip an exercise day now with a dog. I am probably walking a good 2 miles with him. He also makes me laugh so much that it is such good therapy for me!

Anyway, I went for a regular clinic visit today and my lung function and FEV1 are higher than they have been in about a year! I am thrilled and I have only had him for a few weeks! I am just sure that his energy and the laughter in the house has added points to those all important PFT's. What a great way to get motivated to exercise.

Wow! Congrats on the puppy and the higher FEV1!!
I am so happy for you that your puppy is doing well. You must have been so worried, but I bet you delivered the best CPT a dog or vet has ever seen :)

I got a puppy in March--he is now 7 months old (today). We are buddies and go hiking in the woods once a week. The peace of mind and companionship I feel when we are hiking--he is off leash but remains close by--is unreal. The rest of the time we walk around the neighborhood and sometimes even jog a little. He is an adolescent, so he pulls a bit but we are working on it and go once a week to dog school ;-)

I get allergy shots because I am mildly allergic to dogs--only when tested using "Superdog" serum rather than the regular formula. I have no discernible reaction to my dog though. He is a no-shed mixed breed.
