Last year a few months before Christmas, my sister let a woman who worked for her and her two kids move in. The woman was also pregnant with baby number 3 at the time. She had been in an abusive relationship. As a family, we included them all in our Christmas gift giving etc. A couple of months after Christmas, she went to live with her mom and was doing well. Until...
She let her ex talk her into moving back in with him. Why do they do that?!! In this girl's defense, she is not as mature as most women in their mid 20's. By that I mean that I believe she has the capacity of a 14 yo. Anyway, the jerk is the father of baby #3 and so there you go. Of course he starts the abuse again. He then starts seeing another woman who he moved in with them all! Can you believe that?!! Then he told my sister's friend that she had to leave and couldn't take her kids. He was keeping them. She called my sister at 2:00 a.m. last week and my sis told her to call the police. She told her he couldn't do that to her and not to leave the house without the kids. Well, she did leave-he told her he would kill them all if she didn't. She is not strong enough to fight her own battles.
The next morning, this jerk calls DHS and tells them she abandoned the kids and is on drugs (she is so not on drugs) and he can't take care of them. They come and take the kids. For the next four days, the mom goes to his house and pleads for him to let her see the kids. He doesn't bother to tell her that DHS has her babies. He tells her he will think about it. Finally, my sis gets the police involved and finds out that DHS has the kids. Now my sis is adopting the kids. Since they lived with her for a significant period of time, DHS is considering her under the kinship rules. She and her hubby have to complete 72 hours each of the foster parenting program, and they have a month to do this. DHS is letting her keep the kids while going through the program instead of waiting until they complete it.
She picks up the kids this afternoon. These kids are 4 months, 1 & 1/2 and 4yo. Talk about a handful! My sis already has 3 of her own, so now 6!! I am so proud of her for being brave enough to do this. Obviously my family needs some extra prayers. So does this young mother. It is our sincere hope that she can eventually be a part of her children's lives. I know the strenght of this site when we all work together to pray and send positive thoughts to those in need. I am asking for your support and I know you will all be there for my family. Thank you in advance.

P.S. Sorry this is so long-I tried many ways to shorten it, but wanted to get certain points accross.
