My Vest upgrade went through insurance!!

My hard work has paid off...
I got the call last night at 5:45 pm EST that my insurance BCBS has approved my request for an upgrade to the Hill-Rom Vest 104. I will be trading in my 103 and BCBS will be paying the $6,000 so that I can have the more portable 104 version.

You know you have CF when a DME approval like this feels like the best gift you've received in years. Yes, even better than the 10 caret citren ring I received (I'm sure you understand DH)

I will blog about it sometime and maybe even post my draft of the medical necessity letter I wrote for my clinic in order to help speed things along in the approval process.

Congrats Lauren! It is a great feeling. I also have BCBS (regional) and they did the same thing for me. Approved the upgrade for 6000 and trade in my old one. You will like the smaller one, a lot easier to take move around and you can take it on trips. It took me a good 6 months or more to get approved. I had to request a casemanager and get her help.

Congratulations!  You wouldn't think things like this would be
so hard to achieve, but at least it gives us something to
celebrate, 'eh?

Lauren, that's wonderful! I'm so glad you got the new model! I want one really bad, so if you could sometime let us know what you had to do and what you put in the medical necessity letter I would really appreciate it. Thanks<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

That's great Lauren, I'm so happy to hear that. I was wondering how you were progressing with that but didn't want to ask in case you were still in middle of fighting it out with them.

GO GIRL!!!!!!!!
