My six years old daughter keep saying that she does not want to have CF anymore. I just don't know how to respond to this. I'm assuming most of you (parents)had experienced similar issues. My question is How did you handle it?

I'm not a parent, but I do remember when I was little (until around 5th grade) I thought that CF was something only little kids had. I never saw my parents take pills before they ate. I never saw my parents or sister breathe medicine. I thought when I got older, I wouldn't have to do those things anymore. I eventually just kind of figured it out - that it wasn't going away.

I don't really know what you're supposed to say to your daughter, but I guess I just wanted you to know that this is a natural feeling that she has. Good luck and I hope all goes well.

My son has said those very same words to us before. It is sad and frustrating when this happens we usally give him a break on treatments. Like a free day to do what every he wants and no treatments. He never says he hates cf when he is sick so we only give him breaks if he is doing really good. Sorry for what you are going through I now how hard it is.

My situation is a bit different. Its my daughter saying it about ME!

I just tell her that it sucks at times, but we all have things that we dont like or have to do (Daddy has to work, she has homework, I have my treatments etc)

If you make it seem just like one of those things in life that we face & dont have a choice then maybe it will ease her mind a bit. She will still be annoyed, but eased!

Good Luck
