My husband has the same problem from time to time when he's not on iv's. He gets a fever and then sweats so bad that we have to get up and change the sheets and he lays on beach towels. I'm really bad with medicine names but I think his doctor put him on Levaquin (tiny red pills???) when this happens.

I used to have night sweats before I was treated for a duel microbacterium infection (kansasi, avium). I was having little, short-lived fevers that didn't wake me up unitl they broke. Now I'm on rifampin every day, zithro and ethambutol mwf. Debbie23 w/ Cf

<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0"> Wow, someone has the same thing I've been puzzling about for a few years. I sweat the whole bed wet. The electric blanket all the sheets, pillows and the bedspread. Emagine washing the bed ing everyotherday for a King Sized bed??? I am very tired when I wake up. it is like i never slept because the sweting is DRAINING to the energy store. I'm not sure I had any energy store. Once-in-ehile I do wakeup w/o sweating and i feel great! So what is up with all this sweating??

Fevers are a sign of infection even if you are not feeling sick. During sleep is when your body performs its best repairs from the day and a fever is a way to kill bacteria. I was having night sweats every now and then until I did a 2 week course of cipro and TOBI.

I have night sweats also, but always only during or right before my period. I was told it was hormone related. Now I am kinda paranoid. But if I had an infection, wouldn't I have them all the time??

Hi all... I get night sweats all of the time, even day sweats...drives me nuts. This happens more when my body is trying to fight some sort of infection, chronic or not.. The infectious disease doc told me that this happens when our bodies are trying to fight infections, of course IV antibiotics do not help. I drench everything when I am on them...Because I have chronic infections in my lungs, I sweat all of the time. When my infections really get out of control, so does the sweating....kind of a clue for me to get more aggressive help regarding my infections, usually means IV's again (of course, the sputum looks worse too) and my temps slowly start to climb and I generally start to feel more crappy.

Hey Debbie.....I have microbacterium avium complex (MAC) too! I posted a question a while back to see if anyone else had it and only one person responded saying they had it. Apparently, it's not a common CF thing. So, can I ask you, how long have you had it? How long have you been on those meds for it? Have you had any side effects???? I'm going to be treated for it soon and don't like what I hear about the possible side effects. Any thoughts? Thanks!
