Not feeling well after tune up?

Giggles

New member
Well I just had a tune up and I was feeling better but now my lungs do not feel so great. I am sleeping through the night which is a HUGE indicator for me as to whether I am not doing well, so I do not get it. The only thing I can think of is we just had to put our beloved dog down on Sat so I am thinking I am just emotionally drained which coincided with trying to get my strength back after the tune up. It all hit at once. I am getting back to exercising but I am just noticing that I am tired and my lungs feel a little yucky. Do you think it is because of my mourning for my dog right after a tune up and then trying to get better... Is is just bad timing! I am worried !!!!

Any thoughts are much welcomed!

certainly grieving over your dog can be draining. i also tend to think that we always get a sickly feelign right after a tune-up as our bodies normalize. being in the hosp getting rigorous cpt, i.v. fluids, proper exercise, and balanced meals, we get to feeling tip-top. then we get out, and all of that takes a back seat to life. sure you keep up on things as much as you can, but it is never as good as in the hosp.

as we return to our normal, not-in-the-hosp baseline, it makes us think we feel crappy. after my last tune-up, i declined rather fast. or at least i seemed to. i left the hosp at 72%, now, 6 weeks later, i hang around 60-65. which is what i expect to hold at unless i'm doing nothing but focusing on cf.

also, be sure you're drinking enough water. if you're in the habit of not drinking enough h2o, the i.v. will help rehydrate you, which has an enormous effect on how you feel. then, when off i.v.'s you go back to your less optimally hydrated state, which not only makes one feel lethargic, more fatigued, but it also thickens crap in the lungs, making it move less, and harder to get out.

Jenn, sorry that you lost your dog--I'm sure that has to affect you physically, as emotions go hand in hand with our physical lives. I think Kevin hit it on the head about the diff in hospital and home--I know Mel (jazzysmom) is slowly trying to get back to normal also. Do you think it would help to throw in an extra vest treatment?

I agree with both Kevin & Terri. Chances are good that its just your body adapting to the loss of your dog as well as all its been through.

Work hard on treatments etc & keep an eye on things. I dont bounce back like I use to. It takes me months to feel the way I hope to from iv's.
