Organizing medical records

How do you guys keep track of ALL your medical records. I have them in an accordion file that I take to most doc visits. Mine are getting kind of complicated though with a few facilities involved that are not connected online. Have any of you ever used some of the new online services that give docs anywhere access to all your records? I really need something like that but I am afraid of the security of it.

I have never used anything like that but I think that it would actually be great for me. As long as they don't keep a record of your SS# or anything like that on the files in these programs, then I would definitely be willing to do it. I have way too much that I have to try to remember. If you go to my CF docs office there is one HUGE file that they bring out and on the folder there is a red sticker that says that there are 5 back files in storage!! I have many other doctors too. It would just be so much easier.

I do have access to my chart on the Cleveland Clinic website but I don't think it is anything like what you are asking about.

Anyway, I would do it.....just make sure there is nothing on there that could be used to steal your identity. For right now, I just have some of the basic things (like surgeries) on my computer so that I can just print them out.

We have paper records in a file.

However, I am 95% done writing a desktop software program that allows you to track meds, treatments, surgeries, PFT's, weight, etc. I have designed to be a 1-stop program you can use to document your medical history.

We are using for our son and I'm doing some final polishing currently. My hope is to get some feedback then once I get it working provide <b>free</b> to anyone in the cf community.

It then can print out full notes, or I have a 2pg summary sheet that we are already using for our son. The couple of people who have seen it all seem to love it and it has had great reception from Dr's and nurses including all the hospital staff at our last stay. All have been surprised at the detail and abilty to see the 'whole' patient in one place.

If anyone is interested in seeing a sample and offering feedback, PM me and I'll try and get a copy to you as I would appreciate the input.

Lucky for all all of my daughters are at one hospital and everything goes into the computer. They also have hard copies. She has 4 volumes plus all the sub volumes for each doctor. The computer is great except that it will bump entries. It keeps only 100 on each patient right at hand. Which is great if you don't go much. One hospital stay can bump alot of them and then they must enter by dates. They joke that my daughter has her owen hard drive.
We have large index cards that are carried that gives a quick break down.

Just1more when you are done polishing I would love to see it. We have very large 3 ring binders at home that has everything that goes on with her in it.
