OT--we're going to be parents

Hi everyone,

Some of you may know that we have been waiting to become foster parents. We were approved last August and just got the call today. We're getting a little boy. As of now, he hasn't been born yet, but will probably come sometime today or tomorrow. We'll be picking him up from the hospital Sunday or Monday.

I'm very excited but scared too. I don't want to slack off on my treatments at all, and I still plan on exercising alot.

My game plan is to use any help offered, go to bed extra early and let my hubby take some of the night feedings.

Any advice is very much appreciated.

Baby came home on Monday and is doing very well. His days and nights are a little mixed up, but we have my parents helping us, so we are doing okay. I am not a napper and it is hard for me to sleep during the day....hopefully that will improve, because I'm not sleeping a whole lot at night.
All in all, I am loving this little boy. He is a sweetie and very good-natured. I can't wait until he does more than eat, sleep, and poop!!!!

We found out that the baby was born yesterday (Saturday, the 17th). We will be getting him on Monday. Please pray for us. Hubby came down sick last night with fever, chills, and productive cough with pain in the chest. He is on an antibiotic now, and plans on wearing a mask when the baby comes. I am so worried I will get it too. I'm going to wear a mask too until I'm sure that I haven't gotten anything. If I even think I'm getting it, I'm calling the doc for an antibiotic. Thankfully, my mom lives right down the street. She can help until everyone is better.

I think the only advice for new mothers of a newborn is sleep when the baby sleeps. As long as he's fed, clean and clothed anything else you get done around the house is icing on the cake.

Congratulations Becki!

Wow, what great news, and what a wondeful thing to do! You will be a blessing in this child's life. Remember, Mose's mom only had him for 3 yrs--and look what he did!!!

Wonderful news!

My advice is to do everything you mentioned! You hit the nail right on the head...

I agree with Tara, sleep when he sleeps! If there is housework that must be done have someone else pick up the slack. Friends; family...this was my mistake. I ran myself ragid with chores and stuff in addition to taking care of my daughter! Whew...

Don't forget to make time for you; just like your hubby needs his time too. Nice hot bath, walk outside, gardening...whatever it is...to keep your sanity you need to have time that's not just feedings and diapers and your own treatments...

I'm so excited for you! Babies are amazing!
