Pain in front of underarm area

Hello.

OK, so I've had my PICC in now for a week and am noticing as the days go on, it feels sore and kinda a dull ache kinda in the front of my arm pit... does that make sense? Like the area you can flex near your pectoral muscle....

Anyway, it is really really bad when I do the vest cause the vest fits right up to that area and shaking it and applying pressure hurts a lot!

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what it means and what I could maybe do to find relief?

The PICC itself doesn't hurt at all at the insertion site and looks good, and I'm not running a fever or anything. Its more like a muscle or something, but I'm assuming it has to do with the PICC since it didn't hurt before.

Thanks for any info.!

Just read your post; my son, years ago he must have been about 9 or 10 complained of something very similiar to what you describe. Especially when he took an infusion nobody but me seemed to listen and brushed it off. My personal feeling was I wondered if the Picc line touched a nerve there.

**RAISES HAND**

I have this problem. On days that its really bad I had to take Motrin; otherwise I tolerated it or Tylenol worked. I know its hitting the nerve!

Try moving your arm a bit more also. That might reposition the line!

Glad to know I'm never alone in my "oddities"! LOL.... Thanks for the input. I was thinking that about the nerve thing, but thought it odd it would feel like a muscle. Glad you could clear that up!
