Passive Smoking

My in-laws smoke in the house. That's fine, it's their house. It really p*sses me off though when I caught our daughter's grandad smoking in the kitchen when we were visiting. I felt awkward but said to my mother-in-law that I appreciated that it was their house, but I didn't feel happy him smoking in the house even if it was in "another room". It's got that bad, that I feel awkward visiting, because every time we go there there's always a smokey.atmosphere.

I get along fine with them and they thing the world of our daughters, but it's getting difficult. <img src="i/expressions/coughing.gif" border="0">

Any advice?<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0">

My advice would be don't go to their house..... it's their house and even though it bothers you, it's their house!

Stay at a hotel or an extended stay location.

I'm with Amy. If you can avoid it, do it. If they won't work around you, stay somewhere else.

I went to Spain with my dad when I was 18. We stayed with a very old friend of his that lives in Barcelona. The whole family smokes, and yet, without saying a word, the whole week we were there, they chose to smoke on the balcony (tiny little thing). If they hadn't, my dad and I would've gotten a room somewhere. *shrug*

By the way, I forgot to mention that my in-laws only live 2 miles a way, which I suppose is even worse! When we visit we only stay for about 1/2 an hour max because of the smoke, and they can't even last without a cigarette for that short time. Pathetic 'eh? Thanks for listening.
