Ports and Tattoos/Peircings

Hello,I don't know anyone with CF who doesn't have a port, including myself and i have never heard about piercings and tattoos being a problem. Most of the people i know with ports got them very young and got piercings afterwards. I personally have both piercings and tattoo and am fine. That is the strangest thing i have ever heard. No offense to anyone, i have just read some odd things about what you can and can't do with ports. The only thing i was ever told was that i couldn't play contact sports. So if anyone wants to post in here any other things they have heard, or just respond to me, go for it. I love reading what people have to say.Love Jewels

ditto, i cant see why a port would affect anything like that, unless you get a tattoo directly over a port. in fact i havent heard anyone say piercings tattoos are bad for cf's. i have a septum piercing and when i had sinus surgery i put the retainer back in afterwards. when i went for my check up a week later i asked the ENT if it was ok to have it in, because a year before some stupid GP tried to convince me it was my septum piercing causing all my nose problems. anyway, the ENT said 'sure, its ok, it wont affect your nose in any way at all'. the only thing bad that can happen in getting an infection in a fresh piercing/tattoo. but thats where common sense steps in really.
