Priorities when preggers

Hi,

Just wondering whether I should prioritise sleep or exercise at the moment. I am 12 weeks and so so tired all the time.

By the time I commute home from work and get all my treatments and exercise done (and eat!) it's already late. The only thing I can think to do is cut back on exercise to get to bed earlier.

Do you think exercise or sleep is more important??

For me, priority was sleep. When I was pregnant with our second child, I was not at all concerned about activity. I was already sleep deprived because I had a one-year-old son at home, so sleep was definitely my priority. I even felt bad for my son because I wasn't my usual self playing with him, etc. But I just tried to do other things with him that would be fun while I could rest, such as blowing bubbles, watching him play outside, watching cartoons, and reading books. I tried my best to take him for walks in the wagon and that was pretty much the extent of my exercise while pregnant. I was exhausted my entire pregnancy though, but it was really bad at the beginning and at the end. I was napping every day. But...on the flipside...if your lung health depends highly on exercise, there might be a little more pull for you to exercise. If you're absolutely too tired, wait until the 2nd trimester and then pick up your exercise then when you're feeling more rested. The 1st trimester is a doosie! Your body will tell you what takes priority.

I am having the same problem and am chosing sleep over exercise. Personally, when I get overtired is when I usually catch a cold, so I think that's more important right now. I just try to exercise on days when I have more energy and on the weekends.

I hope your energy level picks up soon - you are almost to 2nd tri, whoohooo!
