Normally I ask respected friends or go on a doctor's recommendation for new doctors.

<br />As for promoting quality health care providers, I wish the doctors that are caught not giving quality care would be "outed" somehow.
I research them. The credentials and accomplishments should be public knowledge; as should the failings and mistakes. If we as patients are to make a choice for the best care, we need the facts. I dig for information on doctors and such, but I think it should be easier to get that information.
