HI! we have our dd who is 7 weeks tomorrow. she had her sweat test today (awaiting the results) shes had 2 blood/dna tests so we know shes pos for cf.

eitherway.. shes starting lung treatments as a preventative thing. her lungs are great for now. we were given the inspiration elite nebulizer.

it just has a mouth peice. do i need to get her a mask? can i just hold the mouth peice infront of her or does it really have to go in her mouth?

shell be getting it 2x a day with chest percusions after each neb.

has anyone used or is using the inspiration elite nebulizer? is it a good one? is there anything to know about it?

thanks for any imput! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

we have always had a little mask....different kinds...some wrap around the head, but that is for when the get a little older but others hook onto the end of the mouth "L" shaped piece and it covers both their mouth and nose.

We did the blowby method with DS when he was that little if we were doing CPT at the same time. Otherwise we'd use the bubbles the fish mask

The nice thing about the mask is that the medications also get to the sinuses. Ask any ENT specialist that follows CF patients what they'd prefer. On the flip side, one may get better deposition of the neb particles to the lungs when mouthpiece is used. Either way, encourage deep breathes to accomplish that.
