Question regarding Enzymes

I was on one of the enzymes taken off the market. They switched me to Creon (via a sample). I got low on that and Dr. sent me Zenpep. With the Zenpep I have no dosage information. The clinic is closed until Monday... I will email them this question then. In the mean time how am I suppose to know how many to take?? With Pancrecarb I was taking 2-3 with meal. With Creon I was taking 1-2 with meals. Should I stick with 1 with meals and one with snacks until I can get a hold of nurse???

The information sheet says not to take too many in one day.... how many is too many?? I am eating 3 meal and 3 snacks due to my diabetes.

I was taking Ultrase MT 20 before it went out the door. My doc put me on zenpep...same amount of pills even though it was a different enzyme. That worked fine for me, I noticed no change in anything except pill colors. When I went into the hospital this last time, my doc thought he started me on Creon, so that's what was ordered. When it was time to take some pills with the yummy hospital food, I told him I was on zenpep. He he told me just to take the Creon like I was the Zenpep; the same amount of pills with everything. I did that, and again, it was fine.

If I were you, I would just stick with the same dose as your Creon and call on monday if you're concerned. I don't think you'll have a problem though. If you notice a belly ache later in the day after eating, up your dose by 1 pill.

And the whole not-taking-too-many-in-one-day thing? I wouldn't worry about that either. I once asked my doc how many was too many because I think I read that on a thing the pharmacy sent with my enzymes one time. I remember him telling me that too many was nearly impossible (for us) to reach and it was like 50 pills with one meal at a time!

Good luck, if I were you, I'd just stick with the same pill amount as before and keep an eye on your belly!
