Ty, ultimately your g.f. should ask her CF Dr what she/he thinks. The answer really depends on the severity of her CF. I have a fairly mild case of CF & when I asked my doctor, he said I would probably be OK but that there would probably be irrepairable lung damage done as a result of the pregnancy. If I were her & already had a good amout of trouble w/ my CF, I would choose not to have a child because I wouldn't want to chance maybe leaving that child motherless someday, but that's just me.Hopefully she does fine & her Dr will say that this could be an option for you guys.

Ty, If you two are serious about this, her CF clinic should be able to help with family planning. Some women are able to have easy pregnancies and others become very ill. It's something that you'll both have to plan for, and you won't be able to decide about until the time comes, but it should be based on her health and prognosis. You will have to be genetically screened for CF in case you're a carrier. If she is at an Adult CF Clinic, they should be able to counsel you two about everything. Debbie23 w/ CF
