RSV HELP

Hey guys,

I am at my wits end and I need help, as you know I was in the middle of being treated for a CF exacerbation but I was still working a little over two weeks ago, I took care of a baby, actually several that had RSV, the children were admitted for Resp distress etc.

Because RSV is a virus all the big gun antibiotics I was on did nothing, and with the help of steroid killing my immune system I became quite ill in about 16 hours of taking care of these kids.

That was a little over two weeks ago, and I am still very sick .. I was wondering if anyone has had RSV before and what they did to get better.. I feel exactly the same as what I felt when I first got hit by it... assuming it is RSV and I am beginning to wonder if I am ever going to feel better.

I emailed my CF nurse in NJ to see if they had any ideas.. but I am so overwhelmed and I don't know what to do

they talked about RSV-IGIV... has anyone had this... I am so desperate for help and to feel better I will do anything

I wish I had some advice to give, but I haven't ever expirienced RSV personally. I just wanted to post and let you know that my family and I are think of you...

You may want to ask someone who got RSV after a transplant as the treatment may be similar given your lowered immune system from prednisone or ask a dr at a tx center or maybe even get a referral to an Infectious disease doctor.

Do u have RSV for sure? Isn't there a test they can do to find out?

Its been so long since I had RSV. I think I was 15 the last time it happened. I was admitted into the hospital for 2-3 weeks and was on IVs. I believe we caught it in the early stages, so my immune system wasnt totally knocked out. As far as the meds, I cant really recall. I know in the past I have been on Fortaz, Tobra, Vanc, Gentamycine (sp?) and Timemintane (sp? that med really really stinks). I'm not sure what cocktail I was on back then. I remember being so sore from coughing that even breathing was painful. It took a good while to get over it, maybe a month or so to be totally well. I was a lot healthier now than back then. If I got it now, I have no clue what would happen.

I'm not sure how many treatments (nebs + CPT/Vest) u r doing, but I would up it to the max number your doctor would allow. I remember doing treatments every 4 hrs while awake when I had it.
