Sinus Rinses

I don't have CF, I just started doing sinus rinses and use distilled water; however, with DS I'm a little concerned with pseudo, etc. which can live in tap water and distilled water. So I boil distilled water for 10 minutes and let it cools.

What do others use? Should I be using sterile water instead? If so, where's the best source pricewise, volume-wise?

When I had been doing sinus rinses on Maggie a while ago, I had done what you did; boiled water then let it cool to make "sterile water". I had called a few pharmacys about buying sterile water and you need a script plus it was expensive, so we made our own. Fortunately, my husband is a scientist and has access to an autoclave; at one point he autoclaved some water for me, crazy huh? We stopped the sinus rinses at this point because I've found if I do the HTS neb with a mask it clears her sinuses as well.

I use distilled water, and I don't boil it. I asked my CF doctor about boiling it, and she said don't bother. But if you want to take the extra step, I can't see that it will hurt.

Well I just started this today, and the box on my neti pot actually says to use tap water! Scary. I got a jug of distilled just to be safe, and I boiled (in the microwave, because I'm lazy <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">) and let it cool. I figure it can't be any worse than the bugs that were already in my nose.
