My question is; how can anyone afford life on thier own? I live in ND and I only get a lil under $700 a month. This is barely enough to pay all my bills. I can't really work, and even if I did it would lower the amount I get from them. I have a car payment, half of a rent bill with utilities, and my computer to pay off. That adds up! So after I get those all paid off, there is hardly anything left for me for the rest of the month; walmart stuff for house, gas, meds, and a lil spending $ for a movie or something. I don't know how others do it. I run out of money half way thru the month; and trust me I dont wasted it on useless stuff. If anyone has anything that might help me out please write back!

Hey i completely understand where your coming from i get 705$ a mnth from ssdi and it sucks!..thankfully im still living with my dad but it really dcares me to think what im going to do once im on my own! :-/ ...I to would like to hear what other people have to say <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Oh man its hard but in a way worth it. I couldnt spend anymore of my life living with my mom. I needed to be an independent sirl lol. I couldn't do it without my roommate. Make sure u get foodstamps, ect; that will help a lot!

I totally hear you! I only get $680 a month on ssdi and I have NO CLUE how that's supposed to help me live. I have a part time job right now which helps a lot, but trust me, I struggle A LOT when I have to take off for hospitalizations or doctor appts. I especially don't understand how one is supposed to get by with having medicare either. There's a lot that medicare doesn't cover which of course makes even less of that ssdi available for rent/mortgage, utilities, gas or groceries. I'm sorry I have no suggestions, I would love to hear some, too. I just wanted to let you know that I understand and know exactly how you feel!

I am not sure AT ALL how a person could live on that... I know some people get SSDI and SSI but I think if your SSDI is higher than what they would pay you for SSI then you do not get SSI. I am not sure of an answer for you but maybe Beth Sufian who is a lawyer for CF cases and has CF would have an answer. She has a hotline you can call, not sure the number but you can google her and I am sure you can find it. Or it might be listed in the CF Roundtable if you get that?

yeah, I think Jennifer (Giggles) is right. My $680 is too high to get SSI payments. I'm not sure how that's calculated.
