Hi, I've just been put on this medication & was wondering what time of day do you take it.

I thought taking it just before bed, would you be at your peak whilst asleep.

On a morning I take nebulized salbutamol, pulmozyme & symbicort inhaler, just wonder where it would fit in between that lot.

I have been taking it after my second salbutamol of the day, I have noticed that my cough isn't as chesty but I also started Iv's on tuesday as well.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

When doing nebs and inhalers, etc. bronchodilators should be done BEFORE anything else. This is because the bronchodilators open up the airways as widely as possible, making it easier for other meds to get far into your airways where they will go to work.

The drug in Spiriva is tiotropium. It is a bronchodilator. So is salbutamol. Pulmozyme is a mucolytic. Symbicort is a steroid.

When I was on Spiriva I did it at night time, prior to doing Xoponex (a bronchodilator). The reason I did it at night was because I wanted everything to stay as open as possible in my airways so that in the mornings my wouldn't "pooled" all night (since you don't move or cough much while sleeping). My morning routine was dramatically speedier when I didn't have to cough for so long.

Good luck with the Spiriva!
