Steam bags

I posted a while back about whether or not to boil breast pump parts after each use...something that would seem to be a hassle. I have since found steam sterilizer bags (99.9% bactericidal) made by Medela. You fill them with whatever accessories along with 3oz water and put one in the microwave for the appropriate time for your microwave. Any thoughts regarding neb pieces??

I use those also but for neb parts and this past april when Aubree was in the hospital I took her nebs from home and used the bags to steam them in after washing them, her Dr came to do rounds and asked me about them and he said that was a great idea and was going to share it with other s at our clinic also i took our baby bottle drying tray to hang them on so they would not be on the counter and he was impressed with that as well.Other parents on the floor with us started doing this also.

I am having a brain fart here so excuse me, BUT

if you have hard water.....does that matter if its steam that is doing the cleaning?

Just wondering!

I thought about doing this when we went to Mexico for a wedding, but someone posted here that they ended up with a melted mess. Fortunately our villa had a kitchen, so I just boiled everything.

I'm assuming those who used the steam bags and had issues may not have been using the reusable neb cups -- I once boiled and melted one that wasn't a pari.
