This study was presented at the NACF this past fall in Orlando. What they did is controversial, exposing babies to CT radiation. However, what they found confirmed what a number of 'zealots' were preaching over 30 years ago to mostly deaf ears with regards to starting aggressive therapy from day 1. Remember that when NBS was first piloted in Wisconsin, the 'consensus' was that it was OK to delay treatment over the first few years of life with CF. Hence, they used the screened babies as a control group to see how long it would take them to be diagnosed in the general population. People like Warwick refused to delay such treatment, which is probably why he wasn't able to be part of the study since he insisted on doing everything possible right at diagnosis.

ya i'm surprised the study wasn't published until this April in the American Journal of Respiratory Critical Care Med. 2009 Apr 16

we have had many on this board through the years resist such aggressive treatment to newly diagnosed CFer's. so disturbing.....

Sad for those who have lost lung function due to the lack of knowledge, but we have something to show everyone now & that is great!
