Switching Drs

Has anyone switched doctors because they didn't like theirs?

I do not feel I am getting the best treatment although my children's hospital reccomended me to this adult program. I would like to switch to another doctor but there is only one other adult program in Chicago, which is where I live. I am afraid that I will be "blacklisted" and that the doctor I go to will get very upset. And how would I bring that up anyway. I just feel like word will get out that I left one doctor and that wouldn't be a good thing.

don't be afraid to take control of your health and to act in what you see as in your best interest. do you have someone who oversees the adult CF center that you go to now? are there other doctors there that you might want to try? if so i suggest you don't this because it is probably more convienient for you. don't worry about what the doctor will think. and i HIGHLY doubt that it would affect your care or that you would be blacklisted.

and yes, i have gone through this before and it was an uncomfortable situation. ultimately i explained to the woman in charge of adult cf my reasons for not liking the doctor i was assigned to. once she heard that it was not me personally disliking him but actual professional complaints, she was glad to switch me to another doctor.

wish you luck,

laura
