Ultram (tramadol) for chronic pain

After dealing with many years of increasing chronic joint pain (arthritis has been ruled out) my CF doc started me on Ultram.

Has anyone else tried this med? What was your experience like? I've heard both good and bad things about this medication.

We use it all the time in the veterinary world...sorry, can't tell ya about direct experience. It is an opioid derivative - addictive aspects there....

I used Ultram before they changed me to Zanaflex. I also have back problems that they are trying to relieve pain from as well. The only reason I don't use Ultram any more is because it made me extremely sleepy and so thye changed me to Zanaflex.
