Update on Josh

Thanks to everyone who send kind words when Josh was sick. He got out of the hospital on May 12th and a had a few days at home, but the tygacil was making him feel awful (fevers and nausea). After his sensitivities came back and tygacil wasn't on it, he went back in on the 18th to switch to imipenem. He's also on oral bactrim and rifabutin.

He came home again on Saturday. He stopped having fevers and his stomach feels a little better this week. He still isn't able to eat much and he is exhausted, but is a little better every day. We're hoping its just from the transition from one IV drug to another. He just wants to get back to normal but he'll be on Ivs all summer, imipenem is four times a day (which seems like pretty much all the time)so its not going to be a picnic. But hopefully this will treat the bacteria.

Jesse's sensitivities haven't come back yet, but he will go in when they do. Probably on the same med.

Again, I really appreciate your kindness!

Thanks for the update, Jane. What a relief that the sensitivities are back and thtat meds that will work do not have the bad side effects of tygacil. Sounds like you are all on the path to recovery--a long slow path -- but the right path anyway. Please keep us posted on how things are going and what summer things you are able to shoehorn in between the IVs.
Thinking of you always.....
