Want To have Children

My husban has cf. He was born with it. I didn't know much about it when i met him but i have been doing alot of reading. Before we were married i was check for cf/ mutations. Found out that i am a carrier. Which Total S u c k s. We want to have children but would like to make sure that they are heathy. I have heard of PGD with IVF. But the costs are making us think twice about it. Can anyone shed some light on this problem?? I would like to start our family soon.

We are in the same situation except that it is me who has CF. If you go natural and conceive a CF baby you can have a CVS at 8 weeks, get results by 10 weeks and have the choice of terminating. Going through a termination is heartbreaking and you never get over it. You'd have to be 100% certain that it's the right decision.

Your chances of getting a healthy embryo on the first try with IVF process is likely low so you have to consider that when doing financial planning. I think you should have a consult with a fertility clinic to get an idea. There is an organization called inciid that gives IVF grants and you do a little fund raising in return. They have a website.
