warning about pill planners

lately ive been using weekly pill planners. you know those pill holders that have 7 boxes for each day of the week. a few days ago my heartburn and reflux was getting really bad despite taking my pariet. i couldnt understand why. then i had a thought, perhaps they were going off in the pill planner? after all, when i put my fish oil caps in there the capsule gets all soft like it has already started to break down. i looked up the instructions for pariet and it says it must remain in its packaging until ready for use. i have gone back to taking it straight out of the package and my stomach problems have gone. ive decided im going to stop using all of my pills in the planner. if it can make the pariet and fish oil go off im assuming it would do the same to the rest. so unless you are 100% sure your tablets can be stored outside of its packaging, dont use these planners! they may be convenient but your medicine wont work!

Thanks for the info....I personally never use the pill planner, but I bet there are many people that do & hopefully this will avoid problems for them!

I use the pill planner, but only have one pill to put into it, actually one three times a day. I have been doing that for a year atleast and haven't noticed it being any different. Its a solid white pill, so I think it depends on some pills like the soft gel like pills like the vitamin E, but Ive put that in there too and no problem, but thanks for the info.

Wow, it never occurred to me. We use four pill planners. One for each boy for morning and another for night. I better check for that. Thanks

Interesting!

I just actually was on a trip and my pills had to be overnighted in their pill planner cause I left them somewhere.... when I got them back, the sourcecf multivit appears to have discolored a bit and gotten much much softer. The fish oil was also kinda greasy. I still took 'em though! I figure better than nothing if its all you've got, eh?

Thanks for the info. though! I'm sure everything is better right out of the bottle, but I'm afraid I'd forget completely without my pill planner... So, its either take it a bit less potent (or with a bit of added toxicity) , or don't take it at all for me. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
