Has anyone done IUI's or IVF to get pregnant. Were they successful and what would you recommend? I would appreciate any feedback! I am 25/cf/ pft's are both around 113%. Thank you!

Hi:

I am 26/f/cf with pfts that are in the 115% too. My husband and I are ready to start trying to have kids. We just got his genetic testing back and he is not a CF carrier! I think that trying to have a child is so important too....I dont know how sucessful the IVF is. I know that some ppl have to do it several times before they get pregnant. i have not tried it. The only thing that I think I am gonna try is the expectorant to thin out the mucus so that the sperm dont get trapped in it.

Good luck to you. (I am the one who posted) We have been trying on and off for about 2 1/2 years. We are so frustrated! I am on a cycle of Clomid and IUI currently, but I must admit I have a very negative outlook with this. My husband also has been tested and is not a carrier... so i think we have everything covered. It is just the waiting and wondering if this will ever happen!

Hi:

I had read alot about the stress of trying to concieve can actually make it so you can't. I have read accounts of people that finally just "gave up" and adopted and then later on they got preganant because the pressure was off. I found this link that is to a forum on the meds that you had listed. Maybe it is helpful......maybe you can get support from this forum as well.

Has anyone had irregular periods...I am 21 w/cf and I was late starting my period I started when I was 18. Ever since I started they were irregular, like I would get it every 3 months or so but now I havent gotten a period in over a year. Has anyone else experience this?

hi
yes thats normal if you just started. my daughter was the same got her first one at 13 didnt get another one almost a year later once she reached 100lbs the periods came regular. the doc said that would happen ,also she said when you get your first one sometimes it does that and skip but you will get back on track. my daughter is 16 now and they r right on time but she gets a lot of PMS with it.lol

I have always had regular periods since 13 y/o but am pretty healthy. Stress on the body such as illness can stop periods (Most elite sportswomen don't have periods when training because of high stress to body). Basically, if the body feels it cannot sustain a pregnancy it will not ovulate. Keep up your nutirition and exercise moderately and it may come back.
Good luck - I wish I had you problem lots of the time! AS for PMS, I get it REALLY bad - i am a nasty person 2 weeks per month unles i am on the pill. The hormones in some oral contraceptives really help with reducing cramping and mood swings closer to the period and also seem to lighten the flow.
