Zicam? Anyone use it

Just curious I keep seeing the commercials for the product Zicam to help with the severity of colds as well as the duration of them, has anyone had any sucess using it?

I am a primary care giver and I have been sick. I have worn a mask and made sure to wash my hands after every encounter close to my face, lysoling everying. However, I still think my child is going to get this nasty cold.

I just wanted to know if anyone has used this product, I would appreciate any input.

i think it helps, but you need to use it at the first sign of a cold. once you're in the throes of a doozy, i don't think it does much.

Like jdubbs said you have to catch it right at the very beginning. I have have found Zicam extremely effective. It is zinc which has been proven to work on the cold virus. They think it either stops the cold virus from replicating or from even attaching in the nose and throat where the cold virus takes hold.

But I also take zinc lozenges, Airborne (or generic equivalents), and Dristan spray (or similar),and Nasal Rinses. I can't even remember the last time I had a real cold. For kids, I would make sure you use a kid friendly version of any of these things and make sure none of these things interfere with any other meds.
