My doctor put me on zyvox 600mg twice a day..I have been around now for sometime but, never used this before..I hope this does the trick.. Anybody else use this before?
I have been on Zyvox IV. It is an amazing drug. I took it for MRSA. I can't even begin to tell you how much better I felt on it. I was only on it once, but I wouldn't hesitate to go on it again if I felt like I needed it. Only negative to it.. it is so expensive, my co pay for it was close to $5000.00 OUCH>>
My boys were on Zyvox for a prolonged period. We had to stop because of side effects. Neuropathy can happen with long term use. Both my kids had some tingling in their feet after about 6 months, so our doctor stopped it.
OH my goodness I wonder if that is where the neuropathy I am getting came from. I am really having a hard time with it. My arms, feet, toes, shoulders and head are tingling. Only thing is, I haven't been on Zyvox is a while so I don't know...
Hi! Yep, been on Zyvox a few times IV because of staph in my blood. It is a harsh drug, but it does do the trick. The other name for it is Linezolid, the ICU doc that took care of me called it the "lizard" drug LOL! Jen is right as far as the expense, makes you want to cry when you see the price tag!
Hugs and good luck with your treatment!

My daughter has been on it 2 times. It is harsh but it defiantely does the trick when she is having an exacerbation of MRSA. You need to avoid certain foods when on it, with tyramine... things like red wine, chocolate, certain cheese, all the good stuff!
i've been on it, and loveddd it! it seemed to help so much, but everyones right, it is harsh on ur body, and your wallett. thank goodness i don't have to handle that stuff yet... but anyways, i never felt side effects, but my doctor made sure to warn me to take it on a full stomach/do what the package said. i was fine though, and it helped alot !
hope it helps you <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
I am going to ask if I can go on the oral version of this soon. I am in the beginning stages of an exacerbation and I am on Cipro and bactrim right now. I just have a hard time asking my parents to pay so much money for the co pay of the medicine. It is so much money...
