When cf will no longer be an incurable disease??

Carriers are not half sick!! Carriers are not sick at all. Some carriers likely have symptoms and not CF, because there 2nd mutation has not been identified. It was almost 20 years between identitying my Delta F508 and the V562I.

When cf will no longer be an incurable disease??

MissT: I'm 30 years older than you are and I really don't expect to die from CF. My Mother, her Mother, My Dads Mother, my Dads Sister, my Brother and my Sister all died from cancer. I had an Uncle who died when he was hit by a bus. Another Uncle fell from a ladder and died. There are...

When cf will no longer be an incurable disease??

Sara: I have read and reread your post and it still sounds to me that you said, all CFers who were late dx have mild cases and effect thestatistics unfairly. If you say some cases do, then I agree. It is also true that, of all of the infants recently dx there is a percentage dxwith "mild...

TerriC: Based upon my experience, and I hope LilLab will jump in here, if I were you I would google Steven D. Freedman, MD, PhD. He is at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He is a GI CF Researcher. He is a regular presenter at the CFF Conferences. He only sees CF Adult...

When cf will no longer be an incurable disease??

Sara: I am, somewhat, aware of your medical history. I am also in awe of the amount of education and success that you have been able to accumulate. That is why I expressed my dissapointment. A moment in time, not your body of work, here or elsewhere. Bill

When cf will no longer be an incurable disease??

sweetninis: You are on the right track eliminating carriers. Now if we could eliminate all people nobody would have CF. Bill

When cf will no longer be an incurable disease??

Sorry Steve, you are 100% correct. When you multiply almost 2000 dad genes X almost 2000 mom genes you find that there are almost 4,000,000 possible combinations therefore a minimum of almost 4,000,000 different strains of CF. Bill

When cf will no longer be an incurable disease??

Sara: I'm really disappointed in you. You should know late dx doesn't equal "mild CF". I believe later dx does mean milder lung disease. I won't repete here my medical history or the number of hospitalizations or my surgeries. CF is not only a lung disease and you know that. LIKE YOU I WAS BORN...

    coughing etiquette

Josh sounds like he is 14. By his logic someone who needs to urinate can urinate on him and that would be his problem. CF is not a license to spread our germs upon the world. In fact, we have an obligation to not only protect ourselver from others but to also protect others from us. It is...

    Cf major vs CF minor

sweetninis: That is called faulty logic. If you recieve two genes for eye color, one brown and one blue, and you have brown eyes. It doesn't mean that you have blue eyes but you just don't see them. Bill

When cf will no longer be an incurable disease??

It depends on your definition of "cure". In the past 25 years, since I was dx, the improvement in knowledge, treatment and drugs has been mindboggling. Those things in the pipeline bring even greater promise. When I was dx at age 47, the CF world was turned up side down. Now people being dx...

    Oldest Person With CF

Last September I was inpatient at Massachusetts General Hospital, in Boston. While there, one of the nurses told me that they, recently, had a CF patient in the hospital (for non cf issues) who was in his 90's. The registry shows someone in their mid 80's. He is my hero. cfgf28, I was...
