Thanks Jelly... I did, & I am. I'm typing this from a bed on the 8th floor (CF Ward) of Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. So far, they've done a CAT Scan, several rounds of X-rays an ultrasound & too much blood work to mention. Hopefully, they'll figure out what's wrong & fix it so I can be on...
Just great...
I think I mentioned I've been having fevers every now & again.
Well, it's gone from 'every now & again' to, 'way too frequent'. In fact, I had a fever last Saturday & Sunday both. I called my CF doctor today & he told me to go to the E.R. STAT. I told his nurse 'No'.
If I went...
Hello! Welcome aboard.
I think you'll find this forum a good place to pick up information & advice. I was diagnosed with CF at birth.
When I started participating in this forum, it was the first time in my life I had ever interacted with anyone with CF.
I always just made it my policy to 'go...
When I started dating my Wife of 23 years, I never hid anything from her. When I would take her out for supper, I took my enzymes right there at the table. Finally, after about a month, she asked me what it was I was taking. I told her. Then she asked why. I told her that, too. Obviously, it...
Here's the latest news that's fit to print, I suppose.
I've been feeling really crappy lately.
About every 5 days I run a high fever between 101-102 degrees.
I haven't told any of my Medical Team, I'm afraid of what they're going to say. I can't bear the thought of going back in the hospital...
Oh dammit!
That is no fun at all... I don't think you'll have to worry about a blood clot, but it sure is painful. I've had it happen, twice.
I also had a nurse insert an IV & put radioactive dye in am ARTERY, not a vein. Oh man, you wanna talk about PAIN!
Feel better soon. Sorry you had to...
Man, does that hit close or what? My downfall was when I blew a hole in my left lung, 17 March, '05. I shut the door on my '98 Peterbilt after work & felt a 'POP!' in my left lung. Next thing ya know, my face & neck started swelling from the air escaping my lung. I spent 3 weeks in a med-induced...
VERY happy for you! Diabetes is one little pain in the ass you really don't need. I never had it until post-trans. Anti-rejection drugs caused it. At least one of us doesn't have to deal with it! Once again, congratulations, I'm happy for you... :D
I did my monthly blood work a week ago yesterday. This time, I asked the lab to send results to every doctor on my Medical Team. On Tue. I received a call from my GI. She said my liver phosphates & other indicators were extremely high; higher than she had ever seen. Upon hearing that, I called...
I'm not 55, but can I play anyway? I turned 49 last May. God willing, I'll hit the big 5-0 next year. I was DX at birth, at Ft. Sam Houston, TX. I thank God my Dad was a Warrant Officer pilot. I think if he had not been in the Army when I was born, I wouldn't be alive today. I had the best...
When my doc prescribed Zantac I had no side effects whatsoever. I think you should contact your doctor. I don't think what you're experiencing is normal. Hope you get every thing worked out.
I was at 13% when transplanted. I was at or under 30% for probably 1 year. Even though I was that low, I wasn't listed until I was at around 25%. It seems that once I hit 25% things really went south in a hurry. I was listed on Dec. 9 of '05. I blew out my left lung in March of '05. The ER doc...
I'm not a female, & I'm not pregnant, or even trying. I would like to tell you of my experience when my Wife went through the 'Biological Urges'. She never told me about this problem until it was almost over. I was driving cross-country & was only home for one week out of the month. She got so...
Congratulations! Its a whole 'nother world, huh? If you have ANY problems breathing, bring it to the attention of anyone who will listen as soon as possible! I had scar tissue grow & close off the lower lobe of my right lung in an amazingly fast time. My transplant coordinator wouldn't listen...
There was awhile that I was a 'lurker', but given my personality, I knew it wouldn't be long before I jumped in with both feet. I've had several people offer me advice & give me pointers I never would have thought of. I'm forever grateful for that. Its really cool to be able to correspond with...
I could see how life really sucks right about now. Please, don't ask 'What else could go wrong?' Believe me, there is plenty more can go wrong. Please, just put one foot in front of the other & keep on truckin'. I think about 85% of taking on 'The Beast' is your attitude. For whatever reason...
I think my worst day(s) were when I had C-Diff. I had to have an antibiotic enema every 4 hours. Then there was the colonoscopy prep when I messed my bed about 7 times & had to strip bare-assed naked in front of several women 7 or so times. I guess if you want the run-of-the-mill worst day it...
Sometimes I have to stay in a hotel/motel & I don't really worry about it. I use alcohol wipes in strategic places, TV remote, phone, should I have to use it- bathroom sink etc. I do the best I can to avoid public restrooms altogether. I use hand sanitizer whenever I have to touch ANYTHING...
Yea. I'd say if this is your libido at age 18, it is low. I know at that age just about all I could think about was 'gettin' some'. When my Wife & I were in our 20's & 30's 'It' was happening twice a day, sometimes more often than that! Many times, I had to 'get some' before I could fall asleep...
