Hi All! I am starting to spread the word about my upcoming teleclass (by phone) for CF parents on February 3. Some of you here have attended (and can audit for free) so you know how much it helps with our kiddos! There are a limited number of scholarships available so register early for that...

Here are a bunch of ideas including do's and don't when they resist; also how to teach a preschooler to take them. Link: http://www.happyheartfamilies.citymax.com/FoodIssues.html
Ha! Too funny! I'll bet you've read it more than I have. ;-) I think I need to re-read it again, it's been a little while. My problem is that when I do, I start finding new things I want to say; I have so many new stories to share both about my kids and others we hear from families. It would...
Hi Aboveallislove (love your name, by the way). Thank you so much for your kind words about my work and your wise observations. You make some very good points and I am so glad you brought them up!
I totally agree that it is a normal part of the mourning process to worry and be afraid. Everyone...
That's a great question! I do not tape the actual class (or allow them to be recorded) so that we have confidentiality and a safe place to share. If people miss a class, then I do have a pre-recorded video clip to bring them up to speed on the core concepts.
So much of the value of a class is...

It's a tough call and even though Bill thinks it's black and white, it's not. I guess from a purely LEGAL point of view, maybe he is right, the decision is in the mother's hands. But I am not a lawyer and there probably is some gray area there.
But from a moral and ethical point of view, it...
You are right, each person's CF is different. What you are are going through is very normal- the worries and fears, concern about every cough. I think I was at our pediatrician's office every week after my son got out of the hospital (he was in for about a month at birth due to meconium ileus...
It's that time of year again- back to school. And with it comes an air of excitement, anticipation and, for parents, some stress and worry. "Will my child like his or her teachers?" "Will he or she get along with the other kids?" "Will my child do well this year?" And, for those of us with...
Wow Allansarmy, you had quite an experience with your son. Thanks for sharing it with us. It is so sad that this happens but you are not the only one that I hear stories like this from. We had a similar experience with our son w CF in 7th grade with the teachers, although not nearly as bad and...
This is a great letter if you choose to send it and there are alot of good comments here about the pros and cons. This is really going to be an individual decision for your family that's an important one. This will carry over and "label" your child, if you stay with these same children, for many...
There are so many great replies here that I won't redo what's already been said but will try to add to it. Also, thanks Ratatosk, for mentioning my Back to School resources at www.TipsForCFParents.com. :-)
1. DEFINITELY set up a meeting with the school BEFORE the first day to get the details...
The CF Center in Grand Rapids is a wonderful group of folks. I am sure they would love it. I can connect you privately to the social worker there if you PM me.
I really don't know what all is going on here with this thread as I am not involved in "the mess" and I don't know you all very well as I hang out mostly in the Families thread. But reading through all of this, it seems there are two sides to this story and probably shades of truth and...
I really like your post- excellent info. Thx for sharing. I am looking into this for my kids, both w cf. I am looking at a device calledSpiro pd. It's $219 and measures all of the lung function values incl FEF 25-75. Here's a link of the page that shows this: <a...
I am so sorry that you are going through this. This is, unfortunately, a common problem in the world of chronic illness.
What makes one person resilient and another give up- given similar circumstances- has been the subject of study and debate since time began. Some of it is genetic. There is...
Ditto to the increase in ezymes. Also, try prevacid or zegrid to increase the effectiveness of the enzymes (check with your doc first). This helped my daughter. Take care.
