My first picc line was because oral antibiotics just weren't taking care of the problem at that point. However, for a while I was still sometimes able to use them. We would try oral antibiotics first. If they didn't work, I would do IVs with a picc line. Actually, cipro or levaquin still...

I've been colonized with MRSA since maybe 2002 or 2003. It makes things a bit more complicated at times, trying to figure out which bug needs to be treated (MRSA or PA), but it has not seemed to make a major impact on my overall health. Although I have a few times been treated with Vancomycin...

Sorry to hear you're in the hospital, Jeana. Personally, I always just pester to get out but can't say it's always worked for me. Did you tell the doctor about how difficult it is with your husband's work schedule and day care? You might try the concern about hospitals being such a great...

I'm a swallower as well. Glad to hear I'm not alone =) My pulmonary doctor said it doesn't matter as long as it doesn't make me sick to my stomach, which hasn't been a problem for me.
Somehow, any method of spitting in a middle school classroom doesn't bode well for control!

As others have said, I typically travel with a small cooler and note from my pulmonary doctor. I toss it all in a bin through security, and most of the time they don't even look at it.
On very long flights to Indonesia (about 24 hours of flying plus layover time), I've asked the flight...

I have had that problem with fevers periodically. They just kind of come and go randomly, not always with sickness, and at times I've had them for months on end. Eventually I just began to monitor my temperature but not worry about the fevers unless they came with other symptoms.

That's strange, because I got the policy just for myself, and I have cf. The rep did tell me they wouldn't sell me life insurance--no big surprise there! She also said she could not sell the hospital policy to anyone on disability.
