Well, I did it. I just submitted my disability request to my employer. I am praying that God makes everything go smoothly. It is really hard not to be nervous when my whole life is changing.

We ironed out our disagreement. He allowed that coughing and turning off my machine could cause increased times and that HTS and TOBI take longer than albuterol and pulmozyme. Unfortunately, my doc will not allow me to use eflow except for with Cayston.

Some specific questions that I have:

1. Has anyone gotten a tunneled catheter instead of a port and why might a doctor be against ports?

2. Is accessing your port painful?

3. Do you need to cover your port each time that you shower?

After 2.5 hours of trying every vein in both of my arms, the IV team at my hospital has stated that they are unable to place a PICC line in me. It looks like I will be getting a port. Please tell me about your experience getting one, how it feels/looks afterwards and upkeep. Thanks!

My Devilbiss Pulmo Aide is relatively new--about 3 months old. Albuterol and pulmozyme each take about 20 min, but Hypertonic and TOBI both take from 35-45 min. Granted, with TOBI in particular, I stop when I have a coughing fit, since I don't want to waste the antibiotic.

My doc and I disagree--he thinks each nebbed med below should take 20 min or less. I am finding that some of them are taking considerably longer. What is your experience?

Apparently, he's going to call again on Friday and we will set up an ultrasound. I was just curious in advance of what some causes could be.
