I didn't start until last October when I changed my son's feeding tube and we went through two 'new' feeding tubes in one month!!! The balloon poped on one and split on the other. Thank goodness we were at home...

The syringe for my sons g-tube is 6 mils but I was told by the surgeon and to use only 5 mils. I only use the syringe that came with the kit and when I replace his g-tube I keep the old syringe as a back up.

What about buying some small zip ties, looping up some of the excess tubing (close to the backpack, or somewhere out of reach) to shorten the total legnth of the tubing?
I know it would be a pain to have to cut the zip tie every time you wanted to clean the tubing, so maybe a regular kitchen tie...

What type of g-tube does your daughter have?
My son started out with a Bard and we were able to cut down a feeding tube for meds.
