Rebjane,
First of all, I truly hope your daughter does not have to go in the hospital! My two daughters are 'frequent flyers' at our hospital, I'm afraid. They're 13 and 18 now, and have been in a lot since about your daughter's age. The suggestions people gave above are all great. I...

Jonathan,
Would it be beneficial to you as a medic to have the ID alert bracelet point to a meds list/card, as was suggested above? I've been thinking about getting IDs for my daughters in case they are in a car accident, etc., and are incapacitated. I thought listing cystic fibrosis, med...

I haven't been on the forum for awhile. Thanks for getting back to me, Jonathan! As you know, so many people try to "help" when they really don't know what goes on with CF and how complex the disease--and the meds--are. I hope others will post if they know anything about curcumin/quercitin, but...

Has anybody tried using curcumin and quercetin supplements with any success? I have an acquaintance who keeps suggesting this for my kids and I see that there was some research done in 2004 (this acquaintance is a 50yo with health problems and NOT CF). I'm not finding anything current, though...

Liza,
This doesn't add up to me either! We always get a quick preliminary result of cultures showing normal flora and then usually gram negative, and then we have to wait up to 5 days for a final read. I've never heard of a final read in the timeframe you're indicating, especially if there are...

Thanks for the pictures, Tamara! I really appreciate you being willing to do that. You're right, the port is hardly noticeable once healed (and not bad at all during healing) and IMO a great way to make IVs easier and reduce the scarring from PICC lines (we counted at least 20 PICC scars on my...

I've been through this a number of times and my hubby's HR department is never helpful. I've never used Omnicare, but where I've gotten help in the past is by talking to the company's insurance broker, who can either answer the questions or connect me with someone from the insurance company. The...

Oh, I thought I was responding to only Tamara there! Well, EVERYONE's responses were really, really helpful. Much food for thought. I'll share all of your comments with my daughter. Even if it's a simple procedure to the surgeons, it's a big decision for her for something she'll be toting around...
