My 6 y.o. just had her first sinus surgery last week. She had been having issues with polyps for almost a year and it was getting to the point that she couldn't breathe out of her her nose at all. She also had junky lungs, so her pulm. decided to do a bronch and insert a PIC for antibiotics and...
my drug guide says nothing in the way of increased anxiety with cefepime, but from what I see with linezolid (the Zyvox) Cocurrent use with SSRI's should be avoided. Med's like paxil, prozax, effexor, and cymbalta. The linezolid increases the serotonin levels in the brain causing serotonin...

I'm in my first semester of nursing school and this is a HUGE deal that they beat into our heads. Check the name on the door, check the chart, check the ID band, ASK the patient their name and birthday. ALWAYS check. So many careworkers don't and that's scary. Medication errors are huge also...

That was almost DEFINITLY hospital aquired if she just had a sinus surgery. MRSA and VRE are typically hospital aquired, but in recent years, MRSA has been seen more and more as a community aquired illness. We just discussed VRE...

Hey there! Tetracycline's (like Minocycline, Doxycycline, etc.) are notorious for causing teeth discoloration. I don't know about actually doing anything about it, though ( My Pharm book says: "Because tetracyclines have an affinity...

My daughter has been on it for MRSA. We got powder vials of it with vials of sterile water. We put a certain amt. of sterile water (with a needle) into the vanco vial and shook it. When it was mixed well it was pulled out of the vial with a needle and we put it in the nebulizer after she did...

Normally people that aren't immunocompromised (CF, cancer patients, etc.) don'y carry cepacia, pseudomonas etc. Shouldn't be too risky. Just make sure you know who you're kissin'!
