    schooling option

How big is the school? I know the school can't release the names/conditions/etc of the other children without the parents' consent; however, they should at least be able to tell you how many children have it. And, if the school is largish, which grades the other children are in. <br /> <br...

    Does this happen to anyone

My ds use to always cough while eating or drinking anything cold (especially popsicles, ice cream, slushies, milk shakes, etc.) We were never given a specific reason for the cause; however, ds has asthma and reflux, too. Since cold air always triggered his asthma, I assumed it was either that...

    Sinus disease

I agree with Ratatosk. CT scan or scope is probably best diagnostically. DS had the rigid scope done at age 6. It was pretty quick and easy and was done during a 2nd opinion visit. The ENT simply sprayed an anesthetic up ds's nose, waited a few minutes, then put the scope up one side...

    step daughter sick

FWIW, I think you made the right decision. Our oldest child (no cf) had whooping cough almost 20 yrs ago (he was 13 mo.) It was considered a milder case. Even so, it was very scary and took nearly 8 weeks for him to recover. No hospitalizations but a few extended ER visits. I wouldn't want...

    Interesting research article

Our ENT recommended DS play a wind instrument because he said it strengthens the lungs. He said his CF patients that play wind instruments stay healthier longer. (Don't know if that's really true, just what he told us.)

    Using Gaming to Excercise!

I'm not the one with CF in our family, but for McGrad2006, I use My Fitness Coach from wii. It doesn't use the balance board so you can wear your shoes. It tailors your routine to your ability level, increasing the intensity as you progress, and it uses your equipment (ie exercise ball, free...

When is your child's cough the worst?

Has he had a ct scan to check his sinuses? When ds's cough is sinus related, it tends to be the worst in the am and he tends not to cough while sleeping. On the other hand, if it's a lung infection, he'll cough all day and through the night (while sleeping)
