I don't tolerate many of the medications used for maintenance, which is a problem for my compliance. I'm sure my docs would prefer me to do something, especially when sick, but I just can't tolerate HTS or pulmozyme. Tobi I can tolerate better, but I've never seen a huge benefit from it to...

Probably the only really good alternative for an anti-inflammatory agent is an inhaled steroid (Advair, Qvar, etc.).
The benefits of HTS do not always outweigh the untoward side effects. I am an example of that. I have very good pulmonary function and had been running at the high school...

I agree with Incomudrox, everything the docs are doing is appropriate. The only thing I would add is HTS can sometimes cause bronchospasm. Doing albuterol or Atrovent before might help out with that.

Irritation, specifically bronchospasm. This is especially true of HTS. Pulmozyme tears up my vocal cords. Tobi is the lesser of the evils, but I have not noticed a profound benefit that makes it worth doing.

I do not do HTS or Tobi, as I don't tolerate either very well. I have been told by a friend of mine that a sidestream nebulizer is much better for HTS in terms of reducing irritation. And yes, I would do albuterol then HTS then Tobi.

Regarding Voriconazole, I have been told by several docs that it's not always indicated. Like oral antibiotics, voriconazole can only treat cells that have been infected. In APBA, it's usually an allergic reaction to the aspergillus growing in the mucus. Some docs however choose to treat with...
