I agree with Melissa, contacts are the #1 culprit in bacterial conjunctivitis. If you don't wear contacts, try to pay attention to how much you rub your eyes and things like that.

I disagree. Pre-selecting for certain traits is closer to ethnic cleansing, which is usually one of the things that people are afraid of, along with loss of genetic diversity.
Playing god presumably would be anything that would alter the lifespan of someone and screw up "god's timing." Out...

Can you be more specific when you say rash? Ceftaz and company are beta-lactam (penicillins cephalosporins etc), while TOBI is an aminoglycoside. I'm not aware of any cross-sensitivities, but that doesn't matter if it's not a hypersensitivity rash.
