    hbollotte, I don't think it's the length of the nails or what gets under them that is the issue -- is has more to do with the space between the real and fake nail (and edges) that is where the bacteria grow

I'm not sure what I can add that hasn't already been said... but I want to just emphasis two things... yes, many people are living well into adulthood, starting (and having available now) the newer treatments is making a big difference -- I personally know many with CF who are well...
