I recently became aware of the fact that PARI makes preformulated hypertonic saline in two concentrations: 7% and 3%. That's something I plan on asking my doctor about at my appointment next week. I don't mind mixing my own, but now that I'm working again I'm looking to cut my routine down anywhere possible.

I just received my first batch of the Pari Hypersal 7%. It comes in 4ml ampules, 60 to a box. The catch is that it is a non-generic prescription refill which costs me more. It is very convenient and less wasteful compared to the 10ml 10% ampules. I had no problem getting it after I convience my doctor that it really existed, he had no clue.

jennifer,

for the last couple of years i've mixed the 10% HS with a little albuterol, so i was doing about 7% or a little higher concentration. i hated being forced to use the 7% because i prefer to have control over the percentage--some days i like it strong, some days not so strong. in answer to your question, i do feel the 10% can be more irritating at times. but you can dilute it by adding a little more albuterol.

also, i really felt like the 10% mixed with albuterol to 7% was MORE EFFECTIVE (for me) than the pari hyper-sal 7% stuff. i have no idea why. so i've been really sad not being able to get the 10%.

Hot dog! (lol) Thanks, cat- alright, no more $50 a month copay (though the Hyper-Sal is convenient to travel with <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> ). I'll be calling my pharmacist tomorrow, and have him start checking again and get me some! Yea!
