CF Stanford Info Day

So I just took 30 minutes out of my day to watch the NAC DVD from Stanford.

I am on my hands and knees begging each and every one of you on this site to order this Stanford DVD collection It's only $24 and it's packed with info even the most educated CF person has never heard.

Let me tell you what I learned about NAC today:

1. Don't take the capsules. NAC is broken down when exposed to oxygen, and oxygen exposure when NAC is put into capsules is inevitable. Broken down NAC can be harmful and can have oxidative properties. This is why the fizzy NAC is the only way to go

2. Patients in Stanford's studies had significantly less need for oral/IV antibiotics while taking NAC in their most recent Phase II clinical study

3. The reason why taking NAC orally is important is that it surives in the gut, unlike GSH. The liver takes the NAC from your gut and converts it to GSH. GSH is the transported to your bone marrow where neutrophils are produced. GSH is pumped into the neutrophils - where they travel to the lungs to fight our CF infections. Armed and dangerous, these GSH enhanced neutrophils reduce inflammation and elastace. This is measurable in the sputum.

It's exciting stuff, guys. I beg you to please order. If you can't afford it, PM me.

just something to add to the plug on this, if we all purchase this it will encourage more things like this to be made because it makes money and ultamitly thats what most of the producers of these things want, money. the consumers drive the market.

i may just be ignorant but what is NAC and GSH? i've never heard of it
