Thank You All!!!! Yes I did write a couple years ago! Josh was happy to get the letters from those of you who wrote,I thank you all for your support. OK here is the problems I'm having,I don't have any more extra money for a lawyer! Public defenders don't help much! I hired a private investigator he more or less just took my money! Then I heard about a University Research Team I called and paid $750.00 and all they sent me was cases similiar to Josh's not much help either. Josh is in John Grahm Correctional Center in Hillsboro Illinois. He has been going to college and is making honor rolls he has found god and is very much into his word. I think it is the only thing that keeps him going. He is suffering right now from the heat and hummidity the prison has no air conditioning. Like I said before I have tried everyone to the Gov. ACLU in Chicago isn't much help either!! I've wrote to the president of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation no one even replied!I live in Panama City Florida so it is hard for me to things from here.To those of you that said use the media what should I do e-mail the closest newspaper or TV channel! Should I contact the capital Springfield? It is about 1 1/2 hours away from the prison. I have stirred things up before and Josh paid for it in prison the guards were calling him a baby and so on... I get scared cause I don't want him to suffer any more than he already is ya now! The heat is really getting to him!!! Thank you for all your advice it helps for me to be able to talk to you all!! God Bless Eileen Jones (Skyleen)

That's depressing. =-( I remember someone from a law office was offering to help before, I didn't think they'd be charging for it... ha ha, god forbid anyone should help out of kindness and not from payment. Sigh, anyway, I was thinking about Seasson of Love's suggestion about betting the media involved; If they made enough noise about it it might helpbut they'd have to be interested in the story to stick with it.... It's still a good idea. Do you still live in Florida? Oh, it says right there you do. =-) I have a feeling the media won't get involved unless they're pestered a little bit. Hmmm, I suppose the CFF and governer are that way too. Anyway, I have a journalist friend (She can't help, though, she's kind of entry-level and only writes the obituaries. And besides, she lives in Idaho, not exactly a big influence in Illinios), but maybe she has some ideas or can get me some names or something. It's worth a shot, anyway.

just a hint about the media idea. its a good idea, only if it works. remember if you go down that route it might not go your way. i know you will definately have some people on your side, but you might end up with the victim and his family and friends voicing their opinion too. make sure you are prepared for that. i say do this through a human rights group. they should know the right things to say and do.

but if it makes it to print or television and the prison guards get wind of it they will most likely just make his life more miserable there, as they have before...

He was at a drinking party and everyone was messed up and my son was talking to a girl and another guy got mad and started a fight well when the fight started everyone came running and my son 113 pounds was on the bottom of the pile and was being choked by a 6'1'' 200 pound black belt in Tyquando and could not breath the guy was sitting on his chest so my son took out his pocket knoife 2 inch blade and stabbed him in the back of the leg to get him off of his chest well Josh hit his main artery. The cops came and everyone took off running because they were all under age. They put a warrent out for my son for attempted murder! The guy was fine . Josh was scared to death and tried to get to my house here in Florida that is where he was living he was in Illinois with my parents on vacation. I moved from Illinois in 1999.They picked him up in Alabama. He recieved 17 years!!! It was his first felony!!! Eileen

Thats just wrong. What gets me is....more than half the time we dont even put crimminals in jail anymore, and your son is in jail for defending himself the only way he could? Our system is sooooooo messed up. I wanted to write to him after you first posted about him, but i decided not to because of my having cepacia. Im pretty sure he couldn't catch it by touching the same paper i wrote on and touched ( b.cepacia to survive, needs to be in a moist surface), but i just dont want to take the chance. I did however say some prayers for him, because i can only imagine how horrible it is for him.

The bad part of court was they wouldn't allow the fact that the other guy was a black belt and almost twice Josh's size or that Josh has CF.They didn't want the jury to know any of it. My family and myself got really scared and begged Josh to take a plea. His lawyer adviced us to talk Josh and tell him to take a plea. He didn't want to and we cried and he did take a plea. The next day he fired his lawyer and wanted to withdraw his plea and they wouldn't allow him too. The public defender said that when he appealed it , the judge would look bad and his appeal would go through, well because he took the plea they wouldn't allow an appeal. He is going for a post conviction in a couple months. I really don't know what a post conviction is! I do know that you have 30 days to withdraw a plea and they didn;t allow that either! The system in Lincoln Illinois is crooked. The Judge , States Attorny , Public Defender all golf together are seen in public restraunts together. It isn't right but no one wants to mess with so many officials. They ended up giving Josh armed violence with a catagory 2 weapon. Now they are slowly killing him and I can't do anything! It upsets me so much!!! The heat is really runnin him down there is no air conditioning no poundings for three years he can't hardly breath!! It breaks my heart so bad! Thank You for your prayers !!! God Bless You Eileen

Her son is already convicted and in prison. Is it really helpful to point out something like that? He can't go back and change it now, so just leave it be. Either try to be helpful to Eileen and Josh or don't say anything. <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

I agree with Emily. She didnt come here for us to pass judgement or give our opinion about the situation surrounding his arrest. She is looking for help to control his health, you know the CF that we all have in common here?!

I'm new in this formum. Is your son not receiving his treatments for his chronic illness. Isn't that inhumane? I would definintely call a human rights activist and get the ball rolling. It sounds like many people anymore just do their job and don't care what might effect others.

I CANNOT believe the sentence he got for that. Give me a break! There are people out there who do more severe crimes and get away with it. A slap on the wrist for most people. My heart goes out to him! I know what he did was wrong but c'mon, 17 years. That is excessive! For the victim to have a scar. That is just not right!

Anonymous is right!! Had Josh stayed there, the knife would have most likely been taken from him by the black belt and he would be dead. A good case for running . . .

The way your son is being treated is not right. If they are concerned about hurting terrorists feeling by putting their bible on the ground, but not letting a suffering person have his medicine is just cruel. I would definately hire a lawyer or something. Call the governor of the state and raise a huge stink. If you are worried it will get worse for him, once the people who protest human rights get wind they will have an eye on him all the time. I wouldn't doubt if he could even get an appeal/retrial.

Sorry, just read where you can't afford the lawyer. I would at least call around and see if there would be any lawyer that would take the case simply for publicity. It's worth a shot.
