3rd trimester-increase in mucus production?

Does anyone know if there is a normal increase in mucus production at the end of pregnancy? I know some of us have had irritating coughs/asthma at the end, and I had to take 2 rounds of antibiotics. The other woman I know of with my mutations also gets sick at the end-she had pneumonia. Just wondering because I had a cold and the excess mucus in my lungs felt very much like what I experienced at the end of pregnancy. I also remember telling my doctor that it felt like I was breathing through velcro at night and I could hear the crackling.

I can always hear crackling in myself, so I didn't notice a change in my lungs. But I did notice a change in my sinus'. I felt very stuffy and this is completely normal in pregnancy. Once I delivered though, it went away immediately, I mean, like that day! It was amazing, i could breath again!

So my thoughts are yes, you may have increased mucus in your lungs too. I think my lungs are just not sensitive enough to have noticed. My lungs were already moderately damaged by CF at the time of pregnancy. I just didn't notice.

I am producing more mucus than normal right now. I had viral bronchitis and I'm pretty sure it is gone now but my mucus production is almost as much as it was when I had the bronchitis plus my asthma is flaring. I feel fine other than the excess mucus and asthma.

As for whether this is normal I have no idea <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Thanks ladies.

Tara, I did have more sinus congestion at the end too but my sinuses are chronically congested/running so I didn't pay much attention to it.

Caroline, are you doing extra airway clearance and if so do you find it helps?
