72-hour fecal fat test

I have a question for anyone who has had the 72-hour fecal fat test done. We are still trying to establish PI in my daughter, who has had one positive qualitative fecal fat and one negative, but just today I picked up medical records and saw that her recent 72-hour fecal fat test came back at 9 grams/day. The reference range listed on the lab sheet is 0-6 grams, but I don't know if this is for adults or tailored to children. I want to be well-prepared when we go in to the GI doctor in a few weeks, so would appreciate your feedback. My question is: Do you think 9 grams per day (12% of her avg. fat intake during the testing) is significant enough to diagnose fat malabsorption? I am guessing that if I were to compare to most CF PI patients, 9 grams or 12% is not as severe as many of you see in your children, but I have no idea honestly.

Thanks so much for your help. My two children continue to have complex GI issues and somewhat low blood counts in the whites, reds, and platelets, which is why I am still poking around in the genetic diseases like CF and Shwachman-diamond. We've gone years with no answers.....
