is it safe for CFer to hold newborn baby?

As a cf birth mom to three children (no cf) I can attest that they did not catch anything from me. They are all quite healthy.

I can understand your concern about wanting to do what is best for your niece. To put yourself at ease why don't you call your cf doctor and ask his/her opinion first. And if you really want to be extra cautious, especially till the little one is past 6 weeks of age, you could wash your hands really well and wear a mask.

As a newly diagnosed person Bonnie, I hope thing are going well for you. Enjoy that niece of yours.

I had no problem with my daughter. She was 4 weeks early & I was culturing PA. Just take normal precautions and you should be fine.

if the child has cf i would avoid it but other than that things like psudomonus only bother cfer mostly, thats why its in the water, the water treatment plants don't have to get rid of it because its not a threat to most people

I held my neice when she was born and she is fine and I cultured PA. If she did have CF then I would just have to wear a mask when Im around her, which when she was born I did just that until they got the results and she was CF free so now I dont have any precautions with her.

I think you should be fine. I have Cf and have held newborns and nothing happened.
So you should be OK
