Hillrom vest hoses pop out

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote><i>Originally posted by: <b>moxie1</b></i>

Usually the hoses pop out when they are dirty. Just take some rubbing alcohol and wipe off the ends as well as the area on the vest where they connect. It should help them stay in.</end quote>

Funny you should say this. I though thats why mine stay in. In the 7 years I can count on my time the number of times mine popped out & I never clean it.

Yep my hoses pop out on occassion too, drives me nuts...especially when on the higher settings. I do clean them, but there is another thing that I do..I use tape (the kind they use in hospitals, white and heavy) I don't tape the tubing to the connectors on the vest, I just rip off a piece of tape and vertically place it so that sticks partway inside the connections (just on the vest) and on the outside. I believe it reduces the slipperiness of the tubing, keeps it attatched to the vest and seems to be a tight fit as I don't feel any air escaping around the connections when I have the vest going. I change the tape, clean the tubing and keep it free of gunk as needed. Not sure if this is kosher, but it works for me, alot less pop offs than before I did this. I use the SmartVest and my hose has NEVER popped out. There's just one hose and you twist it to lock it into place. I've never tried a different vest, except at the hospital, but I don't think I can compare because they have those single patient use vests and the hoses do pop off those. It sucks. I can't remember the name brand. I think it said "The Vest" on it, whoever makes that one.
